Market Conditions: Florida Panhandle

Written by Posted On Sunday, 16 March 2008 17:00

Ivanette Free, our market expert for the Florida Panhandle, has some good news for local residents.

The 11th Circuit Court of Appeals in Atlanta denied a motion by the National Resources Defense Council for an injunction to halt construction at the new Panama City-Bay County International Airport.

The Airport is being built on 4,000 acres in Northwestern Bay County on land donated by the St. Joe company.

The international airport and St. Joe company developments all point to a bright future for the area, with increased jobs and economic activity.

Most condo units in this area were pre-sold one or more years ago, and new construction has halted for the area because of oversupply, which leads Free to predict a soft market for the first half of 2008.

But everyone still wants to play and live on the beach, and the soft market is giving buyers plenty of opportunity to buy a piece of paradise.
