Here we are in the middle of June, which means we are more than halfway through the year for producing business that will provide income in this calendar year. So, when your next pay cycle rolls around, take a good, hard look at the numbers and realize you are halfway through your year! 

That said, I realize that there are ebbs and flows to our business, that you may have a bunch of business in your pipeline that hasn’t closed yet or will close shortly, but the fact of the matter is, our business runs about 60 to 90 days, maybe longer, from action to outcomes!

So now is the time to pull out the business plan and start checking off your projections against what you are seeing. Are you tracking ahead, behind, or about where you expected? Here are a few simple questions:

1.  Are my referrals tracking as projected?

2.  Are my referral partners performing as expected?

3.  Any surprises to the upside or downside?

4.  What actions need to take place or adjustments made?

You can’t wait to track your outcomes and take a serious look at your business. That is why we do the business plan in October and should be doing monthly reviews, so we never stray too far off the projected path. You always need to be asking yourself, “How is this working for me?” If you don’t like the answer, congratulations, you get to do something about it!

Bad news is like a dead fish; it doesn’t get any better with age. If you have bad news, get going on making the changes you need to change the results you are getting! If the results are as expected or better than expected, then congratulations on your execution, and keep up the good work!

So, ask yourself the question and then get working on whatever the answer shows you! Either way, it’s important to know that from time to time, you have to stop working in your business and work ON your business!
