The Google Mobile Update and Property Managers: What You Should Do

Written by Posted On Friday, 24 April 2015 17:25

You might've heard that, earlier this week, Google began rolling out a change to how they rank search results on mobile devices (like iPhones). Google will begin prioritizing mobile-friendly websites, meaning you may be able to rank higher in search results if your website is mobile-friendly, especially if a lot of your competitors aren't. In other words, it's time to get a mobile-responsive website!

Here are a few steps to follow:

  1. Check to see if your current website is mobile-friendly. Start by visiting your website on your mobile phone, and also search for your site on Google and see if it includes the "mobile-friendly" label next to your search result.
  2. If it isn't mobile-friendly, talk to your web developer if you have one, or consider switching to a service like WordPress or SquareSpace that, by default, provide mobile-friendly website designs (that are designed to be as easy to update as writing a Word document).
  3. Make sure the other services you link to are also mobile-friendly. It'll provide a much better experience to your clients visiting on their mobile device!
