So you’ve finally brought your new home and you’re about to start packing. So what’s next? Well there are a few things you should probably do before you collect the keys to your new property. Have a look at this list below and on your next move, try to remember to do all of them! If you need more ideas on how to have a stress free move, check out Storage Boosts helpful blog.

Clean your Old Home

If you’ve sold your house to new owners or you’re leaving a rented accommodation for a new property, its important that you leave the property in as good as condition as possible. This means cleaning it top to bottom yourself and getting a professional company to come in and finish the job. If your leaving the house appliances, make sure you fully defrost the freezer and clean out the fridge and washing machine. Service Force, an expert in home appliance repairs, have some great advice on defrosting your freezer on their kitchen appliances blog. No matter how you clean your house though, its important you leave the house in as good as state as it was when you moved in.
Contact Utility Companies

It’s quite a common thing but a lot of people don’t remember to do it. Always remember to contact electric and gas companies to notify them you won’t be living at that address anymore. Electric companies like British Gas require you tell them when and where you have moved to so makes sure you don't forget to tell them! Likewise, when moving into your new home, make sure you notify them that you’ve started tenancy there. Don’t forget to tell the phone company of your move as well because you don’t want to be charged for someone else’s phone calls!
Get your Address Updated

You can set up for your local post office to forward on your mail to your new address, but make sure you notify them before you move. They can do this for a few months and it really doesn’t cost that much, however you’ll want to make note of all the forwarded mail to your new address so you can notify the companies that you have moved house and to send to your new postcode
Hopefully your move will be as pain and stress free as possible. At least if you do the things mentioned above, you’ll be as ready as you can be for the move into your new home.
