Here, in Australia, winter should soon give a way to the most beautiful season ever - spring! And what comes with the first warm sunlights? That's right, spring cleaning. I always enjoyed spring cleaning. It gives you a chance to get rid of all the junk accumulated through the year and let you prepare your home for the upcoming months of sun and joy. If you want to know what are the most important aspects to consider when it comes spring cleaning, keep on reading.

Before You Start

The key to successful spring cleaning campaign is planning. Think through what exactly you want to achieve, prioritise and be ruthless. The easiest way to fail at cleaning your home is by making compromises. Be tough instead, and if something needs to be thrown away, then so be it. Also, make sure you have all necessary tools, including garbage bag, boxes, labelling materials, cleaning solutions and equipment and so on. It could be a real waste of time if you start the cleaning process only to find out that you don't have a sponge, or you are out of vacuum bags, for example. You get my point.

De-cluttering

For some this is the hardest part of all, because they will have to part ways with items which, even though are practically useless, are still being present at your home, taking valuable space. Rubbish removalists from Melbourne have found a simple solution, which might make it easier for you to de-clutter. Go through each room (including the attic and the garage too, if you have the time) and put everything that you don't need or use aside. Then, go through the pile of unneeded junk and separate it in three additional piles - one with items that are broken and need to be thrown away; one with things that are in good condition and you can done (like clothes, toys, etc); and one with items that could be sold at a garage sale. And once again - no sentiments. Be true to yourself and get rid of anything that you know you won't need anymore.

Categorise

The next step is also crucial, especially if you want to prevent new clutter. Make three groups of the things you plan to keep. One for those items that you use everyday. One for the things you will use occasionally. And one for the rarely used. The first group needs to be stored somewhere easy to reach. The second in places which won't disturb your day-to-day life, but are still easily accessible. Under the bed or at the cupboard top, for example. Finally, the items you would rarely use can be kept in the garage or the attic, or if you don't have either of them, you might want to consider a storage unit.
