Rose Gold may have been the trending color in 2018, along with subway tiles, and light-finish wood cabinets, but 2019 promises to have new and exciting interior design trends.

Accents In Copper

The newest trend in metallics is stunning, copper accents. The focus this year is on natural materials and earth tones. The orange and red hues mixed with other metallics are a refreshing change from last year's colors. Copper accents that are more sophisticated than rustic, are combined with blush shades, quirky wall prints, and old copper piping.

Wallpaper Isn't Boring Anymore

Print wallpaper was a top trend in 2018 and continues to be the choice of a lot of designers and homeowners. This year wallpaper inspired by the blue agate stone known for its calming properties is the newest trend. Agate wallpaper features a unique blend of delicate shades of white, turquoise, and blue that coordinate with bold or neutral tones. Indian-style motifs are another of the hottest new designs for wallpaper and feature images of architectural styles of the ancient cities in India.

Handcrafted Artisan Light Fixtures

Decorators are shifting from exposed lighting to stylish, artisan-style light fixtures from local designers who create unusual lighting that works with any architectural style and room decor. Decorators are taking advantage of natural elements in the home rather than high-tech designs. Artisans handcraft lighting fixtures according to the client's specifications, so each piece is unique. Wall sconces and vintage pendants in brass and copper give any space a sophisticated appearance.

Classic Black And White Decor

Black and white is a traditional look that never goes out of style. A lot of designers feel that adding just a touch of black to any room gives it a more dramatic appearance. Black adds a touch of sophistication to any room. A few suggestions for using black and white are black marble floor tiles, black surrounds or shutters against white walls, or a glass-topped living room table with black metal trim.

The New Yellow

Yellow is a cheery color that evokes a sense of well-being and happiness. This year, Burnt Yellow is the color that draws the eye to a central point in a room. A burnt yellow sofa and coordinating armchairs offer a welcoming place for friends to gather. In a dining room decorated in neutral shades, a white dining table and chairs upholstered in this yellow hue is elegant.

Brass Accents

Polished nickel and stainless steel are no longer the metals of choice for kitchen and bathroom fixtures. A lot of builders are using brass accents which are an alternative to stainless that adds warmth to a room. 2019 is the year that a selection of brass and other metals are used throughout the home.

A New Twist On A Traditional Favorite

Canopy beds were a trend in the 1980s, then went out of style. In 2019, expect to see a lot more canopy beds for bedroom suites. Canopy beds can have an actual canopy over the top or curtains at each of the four-bed posts that can be closed so you're snug and cozy all night. A chaise at the foot of the bed and colorful, coordinating pillows complete the look.

Stylish Patterned Tile

Geometric and patterned tiles are the newest trends for walls, floor tiles, and backsplashes. Tiles are a design element that can transform a room while offering unlimited options with an array of color palettes. Complimentary and contrasting hues on the color wheel for walls and floors and geometric or abstract designs are trending. Whimsical, patterned tile is replacing the gray and white so often used for kitchen backsplashes in the last few years. Another new concept is tiles that are handmade instead of being cut by machine, and blue is the trendy color.

Florals And Geometric Patterns

Florals have always been a popular selection for wallpaper in a living room, dining room, or bedroom. The patterns for this year are taking a step away from traditional designs with more exaggerated patterns and a lot of contrasting color combinations.

Geometrics aren't a new concept in home decor, but the new designs for 2019 feature deeper shades of bright colors and oversized patterns. When you want to give a room a bold, modern look, incorporate geometric patterns in vibrant colors. Shades of turquoise and blue are favorite for geometrically patterned backsplashes in the kitchen or master bath.

Matte Finishes

Matte finishes on furniture are more classic and relaxing than a high gloss finish which may come across as overly flashy or loud. A matte finish has the appearance of being dignified and relaxing. Black matte finishes for bathroom fixtures, grab bars, home accessories, and kitchen appliances are taking over in popularity. A lot of people like the industrial look and prefer fixtures and appliances with a flat finish rather than those with a lot of shine.

Natural Materials

Copper, concrete, granite, and stone are the natural elements that that are replacing the high-tech home decor that was fashionable in 2018. All these material bring a serene atmosphere to any room. For 2019, the emphasis is on using natural elements and sustainability. For spring and summer look for geometric patterns and earthy tones accented with colors like tangerine. Open shelving and unfinished furniture and wood shutters are part of this look.

Ceilings That Make A Statement

Ceilings aren't bland anymore. This year, they feature lots of bright colors and splashy designs. Dabbing contrasting colors on walls with paint to create unusual effects was once just for walls. This year, delicate pink and pale blue may grace the ceiling of a girl's bedroom. A brilliant yellow may create a stunning contrast in an all-white kitchen. Beamed ceilings may feature sections of the ceiling painted in a contrasting color.

Stylish New Doors

One of the new trends in interior doors is that they're taller than the traditional six-foot, eight inch style popular for many years. Now doors are up to eight feet tall, with the same clean design. Inside a home, doors used to be painted white or stained to coordinate with the woodwork. More doors for the home interior are now painted with the wall color. Barn doors continue to be a trend. Since the hardware for barn doors is mounted over the opening which allows the doors to roll open and closed, the size of the opening doesn't have to be the same size as the door frame.

Rich Color Palettes

Bold, rich tones are one of the most significant trends this year. Muted hues are typically colors when you don't want your living space to be too overwhelming. However, designers are matching muted colors with bold, vibrant colors. Watch for pinks that make a decorating statement, reds that are dynamic, bright yellows, and organic, green hues.

For several years a lot of designers and homeowners have been decorating in cool colors, especially blues and greens. This year, there's a resurgence of bold, deep shades of red. Dark reds are a dramatic way to compliment grey or neutral tones.

Deep shades of green are making a comeback this year. One variation that's showing up a lot this year is Hunter Green, which is exceptionally stylish when paired with a sunny yellow. In a room with exposed brick, deep green with patterned green area rugs, and tables with a matte finish provide a cozy, rustic look.

70's Style

The home decor styles of the 70s are back in style. A decorator can combine the best elements of the 70s with new, patterns, vibrant colors, and natural-style elements to create stylish living spaces. Colors of the 70s were bright, earth tones. Favorite colors were harvest gold, avocado green, brown, and burnt orange. By toning down these colors and combining them with white pillows, rugs, and linens in a bedroom, you can create an updated version of the popular 70s style.

Trough Sinks

Trough sinks also known as bucket sinks are inspired by sinks in farmhouses and are one of the vintage trends expected to lend a look of nostalgia in homes of many different architectural styles. Trough sinks are a combination of contemporary and traditional design and enhance the decor of any kitchen or bathroom. Trough sinks for the bathroom are an excellent way to save space and are n excellent alternative to a traditional vanity. Installing double trough sinks in a master bath offers the convenience of new faucets without taking up a lot of space.

Velvet Furniture

Velvet is a beautiful fabric that dates back to the 14th-century. For years the material was considered to be outdated and too formal for living room decor but is now trending as a luxurious fabric for living room furniture. Ottomans, sofas, and chairs are extra large and overstuffed for comfort.
