The real estate market of Arlington, Virginia -- an area seeing strong regional job growth -- is in transition. As sales have slipped, inventory levels have risen.

This could be good news for buyers who have more homes from which to choose.

One local expert reports, "Locally, house prices, on average, should rise somewhere between 2 and 4 percent during 2007."

Average sold price is relatively unchanged from last year -- at $560,309.

Homes are selling in around 73 days.
